Summary
Reporting to the Director of the Center for Global Engagement, we are seeking a motivated International Student and Scholar Services Manager who will ensure F and J immigration regulations compliance and reporting. Provide comprehensive support and guidance to ensure international student and scholar success and integration.

Responsibilities*
- Serve as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO)
- Acts as the primary liaison with government agencies including DHS, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE and Consular Affairs Offices
- Responsible for maintaining student records and meeting SEVIS regulatory requirements and ensuring F and J program compliance.
- Administer all DHS reporting responsibilities including but not limited to re-certification-designation Form I-17, and annual reporting
- Implement and evaluate policies, processes, and procedures to ensure efficacy
- Issue DS 2019 and I-20 including initial, transfer
- Advise and educate international students and scholars on F and J visas during their entire tenure at U of M- Flint on matters related to maintaining continued immigration status, campus employment, curricular practical training (CPT) optional practical training (OPT), status change, reinstatement, visa renewal, change of status, economic hardship employment, reduced course load, terminations, reinstatements, academic training, travel authorization, and other regulations and procedures
- Advise the colleges and departments on all matters pertinent to immigration regulation compliance and communicate any pertinent federal regulations to staff, faculty, and administrators.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders.
- Review and analyze immigration-related documents and special applicant requests to ensure accuracy, authentication, completeness, and adherence to regulations
- Manage continual updates and maintenance of communications and alerts in SEVIS and Sunapsis.
- Collaborate with campus and the broader Flint community to develop international student integration programs including new student orientation.
- Manage and serve as a liaison for sponsored student programs.
- Organize workshops for students, staff, and faculty on matters pertinent to international students and scholars.
- Ensure initial and continued health insurance coverage for international students and scholars and assist with the reconciliation of designated funds.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- To comply with Homeland Security regulations, one must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Two years of international student advising experience
- Ability to work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse students, faculty, and staff
Desired Qualifications*
- Master's degree
- One year of experience as a DSO and ARO
- Expertise in developing policies and procedures to support non-immigrant students
Work Schedule
Hybrid: A consistent hybrid work schedule (some days on campus and some days working remotely) is available for this position at this time. However, this is subject to change based upon the duties of the position and the needs of the department.
